About The Position

Supervises and develops employees in the assembly department through training and observation. This role is directly responsible for Working Leads that lead 30-40 employees in the Assembly area. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work. Communicates any problems that arise to the Assembly Manager.

Requirements

  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training and a High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads assemblers and mechanical techs in the assembly department.
  • Communicates and enforces safety policies.
  • Communicates with assembly manager. Reports information on employee progress and issues for ongoing performance evaluations. Reports information on production efficiencies and delays.
  • Communicates with electrical lead throughout production.
  • Communicates with purchasing regarding purchased components.
  • Prepares and organizes weekly and daily tasks for the assembly department, including off shift tasks.
  • Manages build schedule and daily updates associated with it.
  • Utilizes ERP for production status, time adjustments, job hour reviews.
  • Evaluates all processes within area of responsibility for ways to improve in quality, tooling usage, and run times.
  • Responsible for developing and sustaining 6S areas.
  • Communicates with project managers and engineering to troubleshoot, maintain schedule, determine customer supplied parts arrivals.
  • Reads and understands blueprints.
  • Directs assembly team on proper assembly processes and techniques.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Assembles functional parts of enclosures and tanks using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
  • Is qualified in the use of forklifts, cranes and other lifting apparatus to aide in the assembly process.
  • Assembles and installs electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and equipment.
  • Conducts interviews for assembly positions with HR.
  • Conducts employee reviews.
  • May operate welding equipment to cut or weld parts.
  • Develops standard work, work instructions, processes.
  • Confers with managers, engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve assembly problems.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
