About The Position

Universal Beauty Products is seeking a hands-on Assembly Supervisor to lead daily assembly operations in a fast-paced cosmetics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and productivity goals are achieved while developing and supporting a high-performing team. The Assembly Supervisor provides direct leadership to Assembly Leads and Production Associates, drives continuous improvement, and utilizes key manufacturing metrics to improve operational performance while supporting the Production Manager in achieving departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in factory or manufacturing facility environments with hands-on assembly line exposure, minimum 5 years.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of demonstrated ability to manage production or assembly teams effectively while fostering teamwork and accountability.
  • Knowledge of safety standards in production environments, including safety protocol adherence and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with process improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Understanding of PPLH, labor efficiency, OEE, schedule attainment, yield and other manufacturing KPI's.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules, work instructions and quality documentation.
  • Computer proficiency required, Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree or technical training preferred.
  • Experience in cosmetics, personal care, food, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management practices is advantageous.
  • SAP or ERP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily assembly operations to meet production schedules, customer demand, and operational goals.
  • Assign work, balance labor, and monitor workflow to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure assembly processes are performed according to approved work instructions, SOPs, FDA Cosmetic GMPs, ISO 22716 requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop Assembly Leads and Production Associates.
  • Monitor product quality and immediately address defects, non-conformances, and process issues.
  • Drive productivity by monitoring PPLH (People/Pounds Per Labor Hour), labor efficiency, schedule attainment, downtime, yield, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP preferred) to review production data, prepare reports, and communicate daily performance to the Production Manager.
  • Conduct shift start-up meetings, communicate daily priorities, and ensure effective shift handoffs.
  • Enforce company policies while maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations, FDA Cosmetic GMPs, ISO 22716 standards, and 5S workplace organization.
  • Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Planning, and Human Resources to achieve production and business objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People.
