About The Position

Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Assembly Specialist Mfg Manager to join their team. The team manufactures crucial aircraft components, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures, including critical components for the Airbus A350 XWB like the composite center fuselage and wing spar. The role involves leading a team in fabricating and assembling complex aerostructures to meet production requirements and customer acceptance, while interfacing with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with multiple cross-functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, etc.)
  • At least 5 years experience in a leadership/management role
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Daily able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
  • Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
  • Several times a week able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Several times a week able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Several times a week able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.
  • Several times a month able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.
  • Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Required PPE includes, but is not limited to Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks. Protective Gloves
  • able to walk through office and production areas, around flightline and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
  • able to function at heights up to 40 feet.
  • Able to operate moving platforms, hydraulic lifts and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead team in developing solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Lead a team of represented employees in the fabrication and assembly of complex aerostructures, to meet production requirements and customer acceptance.
  • Ensures the manufacture of completed units by overseeing activities such as assembly of components into subassemblies; mating or joining of structural assemblies (metallic and nonmetallic); installation of systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) that are fastened with screws, bolts, rivets, solder, crimping or swaging, connectors, or adhesives; and testing with mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment.
  • Interfaces with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements and customer acceptance.
