About The Position

This role focuses on developing weld and assembly processes, creating supporting documentation, and providing estimates for the cost estimating department. The engineer will collaborate with customer engineering to address feasibility issues and support other cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include providing design input to eliminate manufacturing challenges, developing processes with cycle times for quoting, creating process sheets and presentations, and working with the estimating department on part feasibility. The position also involves assisting the sales team, optimizing processes using lean manufacturing principles, processing engineering change quotes, and managing weld/assembly projects from quoting to launch. The engineer is expected to stay updated on new technologies, improve tooling and equipment, and help develop equipment build standards.

Requirements

  • Four year Technical Degree preferred with 5yrs experience or related 10yrs experience in weld & assembly.
  • Must have assembly processing and feasibility experience.
  • Experience in assembly equipment at integrator with project management, estimating, and design experience.
  • Ability to communicate with customer representing Midway Products Group, Inc. best interest.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Computer literate; basic knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Auto-cad, and 3D viewer software.
  • Must be able to work at the customer site without supervision; sometimes involving demanding situations.
  • Clear understanding of Robotic and Non Robotic Automation, Weld, and Laser processes.
  • Must be able to read and apply standard GD&T practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop weld and assembly processes and supporting documentation.
  • Complete assigned estimates for weld/assembly operations for the cost estimating department.
  • Work with customer engineering to provide design direction for feasibility issues.
  • Support other cross-functional teams as required.
  • Give customer design input to eliminate weld and assembly manufacturing issues.
  • Attend meetings at customer site/web as required.
  • Develop weld and assembly processes with required cycle times as guidance for quoting.
  • Create process sheets, layouts, and presentations as required for line-ups and reviews.
  • Work with the estimating department to review part feasibility.
  • Assist the sales team in the development of new sales opportunities.
  • Work with the manufacturing processes team to develop optimized weld/assembly processes by utilizing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Responsible for processing engineering change quotes for weld and assembly processes.
  • Follow weld/assembly projects from quoting phase to launch phase when assigned.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies available to reduce cost and remain competitive.
  • Work in partnership with other departments to significantly improve the tooling, equipment, and processes delivered to our plants.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining world class weld and assembly equipment build standards.
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.
