About The Position

Sonaca North America is seeking an Assembly Lead for their 2nd shift. This role involves assembling parts by drilling, riveting, and bonding. The Lead will also provide on-the-job training, reinforce plant organization and cleanliness, assist the supervisor with employee development, participate in team meetings, schedule activities, and act as a safety monitor. The Lead will provide input to the Supervisor regarding employee development, lead team meetings and Team-Based Corrective Action meetings, and ensure a safe work environment by enforcing the behavioral-based safety program. All actions must support Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and other Company policies and procedures, contributing to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for people.

Requirements

1+ years of leadership experience
2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
Knowledge of production processes and equipment
Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other related software

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

Assembling aircraft parts and/or structures with or without the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, dimpling, fastening, fitting, aligning, shimming, riveting, and/or bonding.
Learning and understanding equipment, as well as setting up and running the equipment.
Reading basic blueprints and understanding specifications that parts are made to, and identifying imperfections in parts.
Reading and understanding work orders, following written and verbal instructions and procedures, and using tools and methods to ensure quality.
Using gauges, scales, calipers, and other measuring equipment to check part integrity.
Acting as an interface with Work Center/Production personnel, Customer Service, and other departments and work groups as necessary.
Ensuring work activities are in accordance with all applicable procedures, work instructions, and customer specifications.
Assigning work to work center team members and ensuring workflow is productive.
Enforcing behavioral-based safety policies to secure a safe work environment.
Teaching and reinforcing work center processes with employees, using day-to-day requirements within the work center.
Completing all required training and certifications and following specific training guides, manuals, and checklists when available.
Adjusting teaching style and method to fit individual employee learning style, skill level, and pace of learning.
Working with the supervisor and work team to assign appropriate work to employees to enhance skill development or introduce new skills.
Helping the supervisor to assess skill level, productivity, and overall work performance of individual employees.
Monitoring production performance, identifying areas of improvement, and taking corrective action as needed.
Ensuring that production processes are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards.
Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Developing and implementing production schedules and workflows.
Enforcing company policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner.
Troubleshooting production issues and resolving them in a timely manner.
Promoting a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
Performing other duties assigned by management.
