About The Position

Sonaca North America is seeking an Assembly Lead for their 2nd shift. This role involves assembling aircraft parts and structures by drilling, riveting, and/or bonding. The Lead will also provide On-the-Job Training to employees, reinforce plant organization and cleanliness, assist the supervisor with employee development, participate in team meetings, schedule activities, and serve as a safety monitor. The Lead provides input to the Supervisor regarding employee development, leads team meetings and Team-Based Corrective Action meetings, and ensures a safe work environment by enforcing the behavioral-based safety program. The position supports Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and other Company policies and procedures, emphasizing customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for people.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
1+ years of leadership experience
2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment
Knowledge of production processes and equipment
Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other related software

Responsibilities

Performs functions of assembling aircraft parts and/or structures with or without the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, dimpling, fastening, fitting, aligning, shimming, riveting, and/or bonding.
Learns and understands equipment, as well as sets up and runs the equipment.
Reads basic blueprints and understands specifications that parts are made to, and identifies imperfections in parts.
Reads and understands work orders, follows written and verbal instructions and procedures, and uses tools and methods to ensure quality.
Uses gauges, scale, calipers, and other measuring equipment to check part integrity.
Acts as an interface with Work Center/Production personnel, Customer Service and other departments and work groups as necessary.
Assures work activities are in accordance with all applicable procedures, work instructions, and customer specifications.
Assigns work to work center team members and ensures workflow is productive.
Enforces behavioral based safety policies to secure a safe work environment.
Works with employees to teach and reinforce work center processes using day-to-day requirements.
Completes all required training and certifications and follows specific training guides, manuals, and checklists when available.
Adjusts teaching style and method to fit individual employee learning style, skill level, and pace of learning.
Works with supervisor and work team to assign appropriate work to employees to enhance skill development or introduce new skills.
Helps supervisor to assess skill level, productivity, and overall work performance of individual employees.
Monitors production performance, identifies areas of improvement, and takes corrective action as needed.
Ensures that production processes are carried out in accordance with established safety and quality standards.
Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Develops and implements production schedules and workflows.
Enforces company policies and procedures in a consistent and fair manner.
Troubleshoots production issues and resolves them in a timely manner.
Promotes a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment.
Performs other duties assigned by management.
