About The Position

Assembles components, loads, unloads, and operates Assembly machines within a fast-paced environment to produce world-class quality products. This role requires the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assembly Operators will be expected to safely perform all tasks assigned by the Team Lead/Coordinator, including all positions within the Assembly department. This includes reading and understanding job aids/work instructions, manually loading/unloading materials, supporting 5S/Housekeeping activities, processing defective parts, and performing SAP entries as needed. Adherence to standard work procedures and continuous improvement are expected, along with performing work steps within the required cycle time and wearing all required PPE.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or basic skills assessment required.
  • 6 months of assembly related experience preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced industrial lean environment.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, including during operation of stand-up lifts.
  • Ability to lift shoulder high up to 35 lbs. repetitively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion activities including assembly, walking, standing, lifting, and loading/unloading carts.
  • Ability to occasionally climb steps.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Be trained on and perform all assembly line operations within the BorgWarner Assembly manufacturing process.
  • Visually inspect and assemble small components to quality standards.
  • Use hand-held gages.
  • Work with automatic transmission fluid.
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Safely operate all equipment in the Assembly department.
  • Read and understand job aids/work instructions and/or follow oral instructions to execute component flow requirements.
  • Manually load, unload, and/or maneuver materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, baskets, and shelves on foot and by hand as required.
  • Support 5S / Housekeeping activities as required.
  • Use appropriate hold tags to process defective parts through nonconforming material procedure.
  • Perform SAP entries and transactions as needed.
  • Adhere to standard work procedures to assemble units.
  • Develop and continuously improve assembly standards.
  • Perform required work steps within required cycle time.
  • Wear all required PPE and follow safety protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
