The Assembly Operator utilizes a variety of hand and power tools to perform routine assembly of basic components in accordance with quality and quantity standards, completes the cycle counting process and analyzes discrepancies to determine problem causes. The role involves following procedures for assembling products, handling products, equipment and materials per the production department and company's quality system procedures. It also includes reviewing shop operations packets, Bills-of-Materials, and engineering drawings to ensure that incoming materials to be assembled are correct as to specified quantity/quality/part number. The operator will select parts, tools, and equipment required for quality mechanical assembly production based on production specifications and/or Team Leader’s instructions. Responsibilities also include inspecting and dimensionally checking production to ensure assembled output meets requirements, utilizing properly calibrated precision measuring instruments, and informing the Team Leader of any operating, material, or parts condition that would interfere with production quality or quantity. Routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all tools and equipment utilized are also part of the role, as is segregating and periodically disposing of scrap and recycled material into approved collection containers. The operator will operate appropriate equipment required to move materials into, around, or out of the department and maintain an accurate record of all work performed in the appropriate company format. Finally, the role requires adherence to all 5S practices and support of lean activities, as well as safety regulations, policies and procedures.
