2nd Shift Assembly Lead

About The Position

The Crew Leader coordinates an operating cell work area and its support services, assists with employee training, and facilitates communication between management and employees. The role relies on limited experience and judgment, with little creativity and latitude expected. The Assembly Lead helps keep the work area running according to schedule while minimizing downtime. The shift is Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Requirements

At least 18 years of age.
At least 6 months to 1 year of experience in a related area.
Working knowledge of production reporting and production scheduling.
Basic working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Basic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades, and species.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
1 to 3 years of experience preferred.
Understanding of company policies, practices, and procedures preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure the work area and equipment are safe and clean.
Ensure employees receive adequate machine-specific safety training before operating equipment.
Assist with production scheduling, balance workloads between teams or work areas, and review preshift machine inspection sheets and address concerns.
Review production sheets and communicate with employees.
Check materials and finished products for quality and compliance with customer specifications.
Apply continuous-improvement principles to improve processes.
Conduct Sunrise meetings and monthly safety talks, and provide employee training.
Direct activities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
Communicate with employees and other management members as required.
Lead employees in continuous-improvement and safety initiatives.
Participate in completing employee performance evaluation forms.
Prepare production reports and maintain required records.
Ensure the work area complies with established safety standards.
Perform other duties as required.
