About The Position

Under the general direction of the Assembly Manager, the Assembly Lead provides direction and instruction to Assemblers in either mechanical and/or electrical groups, enabling them to complete tasks quickly, effectively, safely and with excellent quality. They act as the first responder and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Tier 1 escalations within assembly cells when issues arise, troubleshoot units within their assigned Value Stream (VS), and provide knowledge, experience, motivation, support and guidance on cell-related issues. The role involves assembling systems according to design specifications, updating the resource planner and crating report, entering QN tags as required, and monitoring the Return to Stock (RTS) process. Understanding and utilizing SAP, COOIS and DCP systems is essential. The Assembly Lead must maintain a positive work environment by communicating and performing duties in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, coworkers and management, and drive production by keeping Assemblers focused on daily production goals. They are responsible for promoting and maintaining a high standard of quality, monitoring missing parts using the designated tracking/reporting process, and conducting daily floor walks to determine cell status and recommend solutions to improve cell output. The position supports and, when needed, leads daily startup meetings, production floor walks, and Gemba walks when the Assembly Manager is unavailable. They escalate Tier 2 cell issues to the Assembly Manager promptly and communicate them clearly and concisely. The role includes conducting hands-on training for Assemblers on basic and advanced machine-building processes, training new and existing Assemblers within their assigned Value Stream, and documenting and recording assembly hours and cell-floor disturbances using the provided tools and software. The Assembly Lead supports the 5S program and performs audits throughout the Assembly area as needed, and maintains a safe work environment by adhering to all Mettler Toledo safety policies. Physical requirements include frequently bending, reaching, kneeling, and occasionally lying on the ground to complete required work, and occasionally lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience, specifically in mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, drills, pneumatic hand tools, and other industry-standard shop tools and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering assembly drawings, schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Strong quality focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge and understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • SAP knowledge and Food & Beverage industry background are a plus.
