About The Position

This position is Monday - Thursday 2:45pm-12:45am. The primary objectives of this role are to assemble sample boards, label Hard Surface samples, and pack samples for shipping, ensuring all products are free from defects. The position requires flexibility to work at different stages of assembly based on production needs.

Requirements

  • Standing during entire shift.
  • Walking as needed to move material for rework or set-up in between orders.
  • Squatting as needed to move materials.
  • Lifting totes of swatches for set-up weighing an average 10 lbs.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. of Hard Surfaces boxes.
  • Continual use of arms and hands lifting samples boards, placing swatches.
  • Pushing buggy or pallet jack.
  • Must be able to exert a maximum of 17 lbs. of downward force to push pallet jack handle down, and approximately 50 lbs. of pushing force when moving loaded buggies.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer operation.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble sample boards, label Hard Surface samples and pack samples for shipping ensuring samples are free from defects.
  • Work at different stages of assembly according to production needs.
  • Set up totes in correct order checking with the go-by board to ensure order and colors are correct.
  • Place swatches in position as the empty binder/board is conveyed through the work station.
  • Inspect work for correct swatch alignment and color in board, and check for excessive glue, under/oversized swatch cutting, obvious material defects, etc.
  • Inspect boards during processing and upon completion for defects.
  • Rework swatches/boards as needed.
  • Retrieve tops and topping supplies for sample boards as needed.
  • Adjust back glue head as needed.
  • Install tops using glue or posts as called for by work order.
  • Ensure materials are correct for order to be ran.
  • Set up glue heads and ensure glue is shooting on boards correctly.
  • Clean off lint and debris from the swatched binder/board using a vacuum.
  • Check gluepot and fill as needed.
  • Determine box size, package into box, secure with tape or strapping and stack onto pallet.
  • Stage work area with all required materials, ie. labels, swatches, work order, etc.
  • Inspect all labeling production and samples for quality defects.
  • Place the appropriate label on the back of the sample.
  • Place appropriate face sticker(s) on front of board if required.
  • Place appropriate product ID sticker on Mezz chips.
  • Fill glue reservoir tray on Gluefast machine with cold glue. Refill throughout day as necessary.
  • Inspect work, watching for obvious material defects to ensure that the finished sample will be of the highest quality.
  • Neatly restack all labeled work onto buggies or pallets.
  • Thoroughly clean Gluefast machine at end of shift.
  • Must use ink stamp to apply w/o number on all finished boards.
  • Put plastic handles on wood panels where oval shaped hole has been routed out.
  • Must have basic knowledge of computer operation.
  • Obtain boards that are to be packed from designated area.
  • Verify that the traveler and label on board are same.
  • Make sure the amount of boards / panels match with the amount printed on the traveler.
  • Assemble all boards / panels for an order together.
  • Package as needed.
  • Attach shipping labels on the box(es).
  • Packer must always be aware of the condition of the boards and check for defects and incorrect labels.
  • Packer will printer and apply correct box stickers.
  • Packer is responsible to move full pallets to staging / pick up area beyond assembly tables.
  • Responsible for pulling and stocking mezz panels as necessary.
  • Responsible for running the edge staining machine.
  • Meet production standards.
  • Key in production in computer throughout the day.
  • Set-up materials for subsequent jobs.
  • Rework samples or boards as needed.
  • Adhere to the normal work schedule, i.e. starting and stopping times.
  • Attend job on a regular basis and comply with the Corporate Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy.
  • Be flexible and work at different stages of assembly as requested by Supervisor or Lead.
  • Clean work area at end of shift and periodically during shift.
  • Perform any duties found necessary to aid in a safe and efficient operation.
  • Participate in stretching exercises as directed by the supervisor or lead.
