About The Position

Reporting to the Supervisor, Manufacturing, the Assembly D is responsible for performing complex electro-mechanical assembly, rework, and repair activities in support of production and customer requirements. This role requires advanced technical skill, independent judgment, strong product knowledge, and the ability to support team execution, including assuming lead responsibilities in the absence of the Production Lead.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 to 7 years of experience assembling electro-mechanical subassemblies, major assemblies, and cabinetry for hardware and systems, preferably in an environment supporting military requirements and specifications.
  • Strong background in the processes and procedures involved in assembly, rework, and repair of complex assemblies and military hardware.
  • Hand soldering skills and knowledge of ANSI-J-STD-001, as required by the position.
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret assembly blueprints, engineering drawings, parts lists, wiring lists, shop orders, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Working knowledge of complex build sequences, manufacturing processes, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional teams and support groups.
  • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to record and update assembly status accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, workmanship, documentation accuracy, and adherence to quality requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with military standards is preferred.
  • Ability to pass soldering tests and obtain ANSI-J-STD-001 and/or IPC-A-610 certification as required.
  • Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex electro-mechanical assembly, rework, and repair operations in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Apply soldering skills to applicable Military specifications or ANSI-J-STD-001 requirements when required, based on production tasks and business needs.
  • Select and properly use a variety of assembly and wiring tools, including manual, pneumatic, and electric hand tools.
  • Lift, move, and manipulate parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate power lifting and handling equipment, including hydraulic and electric lifting devices and lift tables, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Utilize manufacturing equipment and machinery effectively across production areas to support assembly operations.
  • Perform complex rework and repair on a wide range of product types, excluding PWAs.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the sequence of events, technical issues, and disposition requirements associated with customer returns.
  • Communicate effectively with Management, Quality, Test Technicians, Engineering, and other cross-functional support groups to resolve issues and maintain production flow.
  • Work independently under limited supervision while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and accountability for meeting schedule, quality, and performance expectations.
  • Provide guidance and assist in training team members on new assembly processes, build sequences, and product introduction activities.
  • Document build sequences for new products thoroughly and accurately to support repeatability, training, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Assume Lead responsibilities as needed to support production continuity and team coordination.
  • Accurately charge time to jobs performed and maintain up-to-date assembly status using computer-based systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company policies and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
