About The Position

This is a Weekend Shift 2 Opportunity, working Friday - Sunday, 6pm - 6:30am. This position is designed to give individuals with little or no machining or assembly experience the skills they need to become a Certified Operator at Pratt & Whitney. Employees selected for this position will participate in 4-8 weeks of on-the-job training. The role involves learning to perform routine assembly operations on large sections of current engine designs and a variety of similar assemblies. You will learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to complete tasks. Verification of finished work conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments will be a key learning area, along with obtaining operator certification to accept/reject parts. You will also learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM) and collaborate with engineers, quality assurance, programmers, and other production personnel to resolve assembly problems and assist in part process development. Daily job activities will reference written work instructions, which are available in English only. You will gain skills, systems, and processes critical to aerospace manufacturing within a state-of-the-art facility, with training and advancement opportunities at all levels through a supportive and collaborative employee experience, utilizing the most advanced technology in the industry today.

Requirements

  • High School or GED
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • 1 + years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience
  • Ability to make computations involving decimals and fractions
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

Responsibilities
