About The Position

The primary function of this role is to assemble production hardware and incoming repair units while utilizing standard methods, processes, and procedures for both the OEM and Repairs Value Stream. This position is classified as a safety-sensitive role under applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a DOT-required pre-employment drug test. Individuals hired into this role remain subject to ongoing drug and/or alcohol testing, including random testing, in accordance with federal regulations. Eaton maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and expects all applicants to understand and comply with these requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
  • This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in an assembly role or manufacturing setting or comparable field.
  • Associate Degree in Technical Field or equivalent from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Know-how and ability to work with inspection gages, multi-meters, volt meters, force scales, torque wrenches, and test equipment and procedures.
  • Knowledge of fundamental electrical components and mechanical physics. Ability to identify wire by color code.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow product specifications, drawings, and work orders in English.
  • Solder certification will be provided. Prior experience preferred in IPC certification J-STD001, 7711, A610.
  • Ability to cross-train on a variety of hardware/sub-assemblies and test procedures and assist in training others.
  • Ability to navigate various computer systems.
  • Position includes standing, bending, twisting and the capability to lift / move up to 40lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed electro-mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies on production, prototype, and/or returned electronic motors and actuators for aircrafts
  • Ensure assemblies are built to written instructions or blueprint specifications and completed to scheduled delivery dates. Prioritize work to ensure business goals are met.
  • Utilize hand tools such as, but not limited to, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, arbor press, vises, soldering iron, depth micrometers, calipers and dial indicators.
  • May perform acceptance tests on new, repaired, modified, returned or production units. Conduct in-process testing as required.
  • Troubleshoot hardware without written instruction.
  • Other duties as assigned. May be reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production as necessary.
