About The Position

The Assembler role at Westport in Cambridge, Ont. is responsible for assembling hydrogen components, performing quality checks, and completing end-of-line testing to ensure products meet required standards. The position supports daily production activities during the scheduled overnight shift of 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., maintaining a safe and organized work area, and contributing to efficient manufacturing operations. Westport designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally, including Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV’s, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical assembly or a related field.
Familiarity with hand and power tools used in the assembly process.
Experience with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Reliable transportation is required

Nice To Haves

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Computer experience with Microsoft products and ERP systems
Experience with inspecting parts
First Aid certification

Responsibilities

Assemble components
Conduct end of line testing of components
Package assemblies into shipping cartons
Conduct quality inspections on components when necessary
Other duties as required to support the team
Promote Westport’s H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
