About The Position

The Assembler works as part of a team handling mechanical products for customers. The position assembles and packages components in a LEAN Manufacturing work cell, producing a variety of components with differing levels of complexity throughout the day. The role is based in Newton, New Jersey, and may occasionally require duties at other Thorlabs locations. The employee is expected to meet company standards for quality and quantity, follow company policies and procedures, maintain workplace standards, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to understand written work instructions.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
Ability to shift between tasks in response to changing production priorities.

At least one year of experience in a similar position.

Responsibilities

Follow written work instructions to assemble products to high quality standards, avoiding scrap and rework.
Assemble and package components and products of varying size and complexity, including cleaning, inspecting, and testing assembled components and assemblies.
Meet assembly timelines specified on production orders.
Ask questions when instructions are unclear or not understood.
Assist with inventory cycle counting as needed and notify a supervisor of low stock levels.
Cross-train on various functions and perform different production tasks to support operational flexibility.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, policies, and regulations.
Meet company standards for the quantity and quality of work and comply with company policies, procedures, and workplace behavior directives.
