About The Position

Oerlikon is seeking a Temporary Assembler C for its Westbury, New York facility. Under moderate supervision, the Assembler performs a variety of semi-complex electro-mechanical assembly, adjustment, installation, and fitting operations on components or modules. The role involves working from operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal instructions; operating assembly equipment; testing and packing components; and maintaining records and a safe, orderly work area. The position requires knowledge equivalent to high school, industrial, or trade training, the ability to read and interpret uncomplicated drawings, and 1 to 3 years of assembly experience involving hand-eye coordination. Compensation is $20.00 to $23.00 per hour. Benefits are available from the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

Work from operation sheets, blueprints, and verbal instructions to perform varied assembly operations.
Set up and operate a variety of machines and assembly operations to specified tolerances using available fixtures.
Perform assembly, wiring, testing, and packing, including cutting, manual and semi-automatic inserting, laying, stripping, and tying wires, and attaching components to modules or subassemblies.
Use measuring instruments to test components against operating requirements and specifications.
Perform minor maintenance on bench and shop tools and equipment.
Maintain records of parts and components processed.
May guide and train lower-level employees.
Keep the work area safe, clean, and orderly.
Use prescribed personal protective equipment where required and follow applicable environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Perform other duties as required.
