About The Position

Originally founded in Silicon Valley in 1952, TransPak offers packaging solutions including design, engineering, testing, manufacturing, and fulfillment of custom and stock packaging. The Assembler - Wood role involves safely and efficiently building wood crates using blueprints (cut sheets) and power tools to meet customer specifications for quality and on-time delivery. The position requires logging jobs in the Ops Center to track progress and follow production schedules, as well as adhering to safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

Requirements

  • 3 months of experience in carpentry, construction and/or landscaping.
  • Experience with dimensional and electrical power tools and motorized equipment.
  • Basic computer skills to use Ops Center to log in & out of jobs with employee ID number.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Forklift experience

Responsibilities

  • Builds various sized wood crates while safely using power tools (nail and staple guns, power drills, grinders, and hammers).
  • Uses tape measure to ensure measurements match the cut sheet up to 1/8th inch.
  • Performs safe ladder use when assembling the tops (caps) of crates.
  • Assembles bases or skids for crates on the ground, which requires use of a 20-pound, 3.5-inch nail gun while crouching and/or kneeling.
  • Reads, interprets, finds, and documents possible cut sheet and/or stenciling errors.
  • Uses adhesives to apply foam to wood crates and conducts specification checks.
  • Efficiently performs work according to standard operating procedures.
  • Follows all procedures, policies and understands equipment use before use.
  • Reports equipment defects and/or maintenance needs to supervisor.
  • Reports any unsafe acts to supervisor.
