About The Position

This role is responsible for performing assembly and polishing tasks on tools and molds. The position requires a high school diploma and 2-3 years of experience in a similar role. The assembler and polisher will work with various machinery and tools, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications. This role also involves maintaining a clean and organized work area, participating in LEAN Manufacturing initiatives, and collaborating with engineers and production personnel to resolve issues. The position is on the 1st shift, with hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as necessary. There are opportunities for career advancement within the company.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and apply drawings, instructions, etc.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, work instructions, technical schematics & other drawings
  • Solid reading & mathematical skills
  • Demonstrated ability operate welding equipment
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience using precision measuring & marking devices – rulers, micrometers, calipers & scribes

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all tools and machinery in clean working order.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with other areas of the Tool Design operations as needed.
  • Confer with Design Engineers, Production Personnel, and others to resolve issues.
  • Recognize and correct safety hazards; report hazards requiring higher-level fixes.
  • Participate in LEAN Manufacturing initiatives as required.
  • Review work orders, drawings, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, procedures, and sequence of operations needed for assembly.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on metal stock.
  • Verify dimensions and assembly alignment are correct.
  • Operate mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Verify finished work conforms to specifications.
  • Fit and assemble finished parts, making minor modifications as needed to produce the best fit of parts.
  • Disassemble combination forms to salvage tooling and place in proper customer bins.
  • Review work orders, drawings, specifications, or instructions to determine materials, procedures, and equipment needed for polishing.
  • Set up and operate a hand drill to drill/tap holes in molds for venting.
  • Position parts and remove surface defects with a palm sander, sandpaper, file, or steel wool.
  • Inspect finished molds for smoothness, contour, conformity, and defects.
  • Verify finished work piece conforms to specifications.
  • Fit parts together in preassembly to ensure dimensions are accurate.

Benefits

  • Compensation range for this position is up to $21/hr.
