About The Position

On a production basis, performs precision mechanical assembly work, which is typically of high complexity and/or requires fitting, alignment, and the adjustment of components, units, and assemblies to very close tolerances. Assemblers integrated next-level assembly work on machined/fabricated aerospace parts at a floor station. Assembles fabricated parts at a floor station using and or performing: Riveting, Cold Working, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating, and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets and Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies. Assemblers tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Assemblers also ensures conformance to established procedures and quality level of Cadence site location Engineering and Quality Policy and conformance to Customer Engineering and Specifications and safe work habits.

Requirements

  • May be required to meet certain certifications in field.
  • Requires at least 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area of precision mechanical assembly experience.
  • Working knowledge of shop math and geometry.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex drawings and documents for machined parts and assemblies highly desired.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work with others with a positive attitude.
  • Complies with safety training and policies.
  • Provide accurate information to supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Owner of safety for the area. All operators/visitors to area are following safety policy, wearing proper PPE, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in Riveting, Nut Plates, Bearings, Bushings, Cold Bonding, Fabricating and installing Shims, Sealing, Bucking/Squeezing Rivets and including but not limited to Grounding Blocks for integrated next-level assemblies.
  • Preferred knowledgeable in the use of various power-hand tools, drills, jigs, templates, boring and bucking equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Accomplishes various production assembly functions that are somewhat complicated in nature.
  • Assembles products or sub-assemblies according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings or diagrams.
  • Set up and operate a variety of assembly tools.
  • Use precision measuring tools or equipment.
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications using jigs and templates when required.
  • Positions parts in specified relationship to each other under extremely close tolerance conditions.
  • Fastens parts together using an Orbital Riveting machine.
  • Loads and unloads previously setup machines such as arbor presses, drill presses and milling machines.
  • Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary.
  • Trouble-shoots and reworks production items that do not meet specifications.
  • Provides training to less experienced assemblers or as directed by management.
  • Complies with safety training and policies.
  • Provide accurate information to supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Owner of safety for the area. All operators/visitors to area are following safety policy, wearing proper PPE, etc.
