About The Position

The Assembler II will be responsible for assembling PGM and customer components from detailed drawings using a wide variety of hand and power tools. This role involves assembling, disassembling, and modifying mechanical systems and subassemblies by following specific instructions. Attention to detail is crucial to prevent damage to the operator, product, or equipment during activities. The Assembler II may also be required to remove and recycle debris and make necessary equipment adjustments to ensure satisfactory production. A visual inspection for obvious defects will be part of the daily tasks.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Good motor skills and coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and disassembles large shelters, complex subassemblies, chassis and mechanical parts using air tools, riveters and riv nut tools.
  • Reviews modification and rework instructions or discrepancy reports, engineering change orders and preliminary rework notices. Modifies or reworks mechanical assemblies by removing, repairing and replacing parts, cables or harnesses.
  • Routes large cables and harnesses using tie wraps and straps in Radar Systems including AC outlet wiring.
  • Operates various power tools used in the assembly of all types of hardware as identified on the supplied parts lists.
  • Performs paint touch-up to assemblies by using spray guns and airbrushes before shipment to the customer.
  • Utilizes torches and plastic body filler to straighten and repair sheet metal punctures.
  • Applies adhesives to gaskets and grommets.
  • Works from mechanical blueprints, process sheets, sketches and written or verbal instructions.
  • Understand basic Vantage system for time reporting purposes.
  • Understand basic SPC for data collection and analysis.
  • Understand how to use elementary statistical tools for problem identification and analysis.
  • Assist other department operators when required or directed.
  • Perform any other assigned duties in accordance with instruction provided by the supervisor.
