About The Position
This application is for a Civil Service Examination for the opportunity to be placed on an Eligible List for a future opening. The examination is for the role of Asphalt Tamper. Candidates will be notified of the time, date, and place of the examination. The role involves performing highly skilled work in connection with laying and repairing asphalt street pavement.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Four years of full-time paid asphalt work or Four years of employment experience as a Municipal Service Laborer with hot mix asphalt experience for the City of Cleveland required
- Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 pounds
Responsibilities
- Tamps asphalt around joints
- Smooths joints
- Shovels asphalt from trucks and spreads it evenly
- Tears up and cuts out defective pavement
- Cleans out holes
- Trims and cuts joints for patches
- Tends fires
