About The Position

Seeking an individual with experience to operate a Stan Steel hot mix drum plant. The successful candidate will be familiar with Blacktop, aggregate, and hot oil types and the general nature of hot mix asphalt production. The successful candidate needs to be willing to work potentially long days, and some Saturday's and some nights during the busy season. The loader operator and ground person will assist in all maintenance and repair tasks. All Suit-Kote employees are required to comply with all safety rules and to observe safe work practices and operating procedures at all times. Whenever on Suit-Kote property or job sites, or operating Suit- Kote equipment, employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that promotes the safety of the employee, co-workers and others.

Requirements

• Experience operating a Stan Steel hot mix drum plant
• Familiarity with Blacktop, aggregate, and hot oil types
• Familiarity with the general nature of hot mix asphalt production
• Willingness to work potentially long days, some Saturdays, and some nights during the busy season
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Observe and comply with necessary PPE requirements
• Ability to work in a noisy area
• Ability to perform bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, crawling and squatting
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
• Basic math skills

Nice To Haves

• Ability to read and understand SDS
• Ability to work in all types of weather
• Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools
• Prior crushing and/or laborer/maintenance experience
• A two-year technical degree is preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform all maintenance and service duties that are related to the plant
• Minor repairs from normal wear and tear
• Assist contractors in making substantial repairs
• Work with the groundman and loader operator
• Provide information to Suit-Kote Corporation office personnel, forepersons, and superintendents
• Work with customers
• Use platform scale
• Use Libra ticketing system
• Use standard computer system
• Deliver tickets to the customer
• Document daily and weekly totals of material produced
• Keep inventory
• Must have basic knowledge of the platform scale system
• Record keeping for ticketing and plant operation hours for knowledge of service intervals.
• Report with NYSDOT and Libra personnel scale checks and calibrations every 90 days
