About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Asphalt Paver Operator for a full-time role. The primary function of this position is to operate the asphalt paving machine to achieve overall ride quality and appearance. This role requires a self-motivated individual with a desire to grow in their career. Nights and/or weekends may be required in addition to regular day shifts. The position reports to the Roadwork Paving Site Foreman.

Requirements

At least one year of experience as an Asphalt Paver Operator.
Ability to climb and descend steps/stairs and use handrails to enter/exit vehicles.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds consistently.
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment-vest, steel-toed boots, helmet.
Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue, and to effectively jump, sprint, or throw an object.
Good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
Ability to quickly move arms and legs.
Ability to sit for an extended period of time and the eye/hand/feet ability and coordination to operate a manual transmission and clutch in both trucks and any other equipment being driven.
Able to climb stairs/ steps and to use handrails to climb and exit the equipment’s raised cab.
Willingness and ability to perform manual work and follow verbal and written instructions.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform daily maintenance checks and report any mechanical or safety issues to a supervisor.
Perform minor repairs to the equipment and assist in the general operation of each job site.
Add/remove screed extensions.
Clean excess asphalt off from paver.
Load and unload of materials.
Check and maintain grade stakes.
Set up and maintenance of all traffic control aids.
Operate rollers, power broom, tamps, and skid steer loaders, and any other equipment employee can operate.
Drive pick-ups, flatbed, water trucks, and sand trucks.
Maintenance of all equipment and tools.
Assist with the crew in manual labor when not operating equipment.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
Travel and work away from home when required.
Work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
