About The Position

Schmidt Industrial Services LLC is looking for an ASME Code Fitter/Welder to join our team in Chester, PA. The role will be responsible for supporting the fabrication of heavy gauge code storage tanks and vessels that support numerous industries including oil and gas, energy, chemical manufacturing, confectionery (primarily chocolate) production, and waste/waste water industries.

Requirements

Proficiency with MIG and TIG welding.
Ability to replace consumables on MIG and TIG torches.
Ability to determine if welding machine is operating properly.
Ability to adjust welding machine controls (volts, amps, wire speed, etc.).
Ability to choose correct filler metal for the job.
Knowledge of welding supplies and when they are low.
Ability to read and use weld gages.
Knowledge of weld symbols.
Ability to determine required weld size prior to welding.
Ability to produce quality welds in both MIG & TIG.
Ability to pass visual, PT, MT and/or X-ray testing.
Ability to grind/remove scale prior to welding.
Ability to remove spatter/pimples.
Ability to keep the work area neat and clean.

Responsibilities

Replace consumables on both MIG and TIG torches.
Determine if welding machine is operating properly.
Keep the welding machine clean.
Adjust controls for volts, amps, wire speed, etc.
Choose correct filler metal for the job.
Notify leader when welding supplies are low.
Read and use weld gages.
Understand weld symbols.
Determine required weld size prior to welding, or ask supervisor/review drawing if not provided.
Produce quality welds in both MIG & TIG.
Pass visual, PT, MT and/or X-ray testing.
Grind/remove scale if necessary prior to welding.
Remove any spatter/pimples that are produced.
Keep the area neat and clean.
