About The Position

ContextGlobal is seeking on-site ASL interpreters to support our clients across Washington, DC. This is an in-person position. All assignments are performed on location at client sites in the District. The role involves providing effective communication facilitation between multiple parties, working to and from ASL and English, and understanding cultural and linguistic differences between communities and responding accordingly. We are hiring both certified and non-certified interpreters. Certified interpreters (RID, NAD IV or V, or a BEI equivalent) are matched to assignments that require certification, and skilled non-certified interpreters are welcome for assignments that do not.

Requirements

Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing
Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred)
At least two years of experience as an ASL interpreter
Proficient signing and voicing skills
Strong knowledge of educational, corporate, and community vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culture
Ethical decision-making
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of educational, corporate, and/or community vocabulary
Strong understanding of cultural and linguistic differences between communities
Self-motivated, well-organized, and dependable with paperwork and timekeeping

Nice To Haves
