About The Position

We are searching for an American Sign Language Subject Matter Expert with recent ASL teaching experience for a contract position writing ASL activities for digital curriculum that will be used in high school classrooms. This contract position begins this summer. The ideal candidate teaches ASL in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language. The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn and be assessed in the language through courseware. Courseware is delivered online to students attending virtual schools and it is a textbook replacement that supports what the student learns from an ASL teacher. eDynamic Learning, a Pearson Education company, is the largest publisher of educational resources for elective courseware for high school students in North America. Share your knowledge through resources used by students in face-to-face, hybrid, and virtual schools. While our resources support all educational environments, they never replace teachers.

Requirements

• Recent ASL teaching experience
• Strong skills in teaching and assessing receptive and expressive ASL
• Understanding of Deaf culture
• Fluent in ASL
• Proficient in written English
• Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
• Post-secondary ASL degree
• Deadline-driven
• Receptive to feedback
• Can work remotely as part of a larger team
• Open to using various tech applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
