ASE Observability SRE - Seattle

Apple•Seattle, WA

About The Position

Apple Service Engineering (ASE) builds and operates systems and infrastructure that support Apple services, including iCloud, iTunes, Siri, and Maps. The Observability SRE organisation provides observability capabilities that help engineering teams understand their infrastructure and services. Its monitoring, alerting, and visualisation platform analyzes billions of metrics per minute and supports the availability and operation of Apple's services worldwide. As a Site Reliability Engineer on the Observability Team, you will champion the availability, performance, and scaling of customer-facing production services. You will work closely with engineering teams to design and build cloud and systems monitoring infrastructure, with a focus on automation, availability, performance, and efficiency at global scale. ASE infrastructure spans geographically dispersed data centers, including AliCloud regions serving mainland China and global markets, and supports hundreds of millions of users. SREs work across the infrastructure stack, using data, teamwork, and technical expertise to address these challenges. Most ASE systems run on Linux and use a mix of open-source, vendor-licensed, and internally developed tools for configuration management, provisioning, software deployment, logging, and monitoring. The role offers opportunities to learn and improve these tools.
