About The Position

This is a long-term contract position for an AS400 Developer located in Issaquah, WA. The role requires 3 days onsite per week. The developer will be responsible for analyzing and creating new programs, analyzing and modifying complex SQL queries, and documenting business rules. The role also involves ILE programming, including creating program modules, binding directories, and service programs. Experience with Message Queue (MQ), MQ Trigger, and embedding XML tags in RPG Programs is required. Good communication skills are essential as the role involves owning project tasks based on communication with client-side analysts.

Requirements

  • 8 + Years of exp in As400
  • 3 + Years of Exp in RPGLE, SQL
  • Excellent programming skills on the iSeries platform
  • Very good knowledge of SQL concepts
  • Database Concepts
  • Good working knowledge in screen programming Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files.
  • Working knowledge of Message Queue (MQ), MQ Trigger
  • Good communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Good working knowledge in MDCMS
  • Turnover the code configuration management tool
  • Good working knowledge in X- Analysis - cross-reference tool for iSeries.
  • Knowledge of Triggers, Message Queuing for inter -program/ inter-system communication
  • ROBOT job scheduler - knowledge in creating and setting up scheduled jobs in the iSeries.
  • Knowledge of normalized, denormalized tables, Star Schema databases
  • Working knowledge on iSeries Navigator to run queries and analyze the performance of SQL queries.
  • Knowledge in the Retail Domain especially in areas like Merchandising, Warehouse Management, Distribution, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and Create new programs using RPG, RPG ILE, SQLRPGLE, and Control Language (CLP/CLLE).
  • Analyze and modify complex SQL queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, Cursor programming.
  • Create and Analyze Physical files, Logical Files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, Stored procedures.
  • Create and Analyze Physical files, Logical Files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, Stored procedures.
  • Document business rules effectively and should be able to create data mapping documents after analysing program flows and data flows.
  • Analyze and Create program modules, binding directories, service programs.
  • Embed XML tags in RPG Programs.
  • Own a project task completely based on the communication with the analysts at the client site.
