About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) partners with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) to improve the quality of life for community residents. GCU has a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of the Valley – AZ (BGCAZ), which fosters academic excellence, strong character, leadership development, healthy lifestyles, and workforce preparedness. This Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) student worker position is approved for community service, providing services to non-GCU community members. The work schedule is dependent on BGCAZ's hours of operation and needs, with a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and potential for summer work. Applicants must complete their FAFSA to be reviewed for Federal Work-Study (FWS) eligibility.

Requirements

Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor’s program or master’s program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
Have passion and willingness to help others succeed.
Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Provide arts-focused, high-yield enrichment activities for students in grades K–6, including middle school.
Facilitate small-group, arts-focused experiences (such as fine arts, performing arts, spoken word, culinary arts, and digital arts) for students in grades K–6, including middle school.
Perform other duties as assigned.
