About The Position

The Arts and Humanities Instructor leads YMCA youth programs in arts and crafts, creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where participants can build skills, confidence, and character. The instructor delivers programming in line with established curriculum and quality standards, supports participants’ learning and personal growth, and helps ensure program activities are enjoyable and safe.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Experience participating in or instructing the applicable program area, arts and crafts.
Ability to safely lead participants in age-appropriate instruction and activities.
Ability to maintain focus and supervise participants throughout program sessions.
Current certifications required for the assigned program, or ability to obtain them before instructing, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Deliver YMCA instructional programs in accordance with established curriculum and quality standards.
Teach and evaluate participant skill progression while encouraging confidence and personal growth.
Foster an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment.
Reinforce the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility through instruction.
Monitor participant safety and behavior throughout all activities.
Communicate participant progress and program updates with families as appropriate.
Maintain attendance records and complete required program documentation.
Ensure program spaces are clean, organized, and ready for the next activity.
Participate in required staff meetings and trainings.
