About The Position

With nearly 900 artists across studios in Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Paris, the company partners with leading global storytellers like Netflix, HBO, Disney, Marvel, and Amazon Studios. Their recent and current projects include "Blue Beetle," "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters," Zack Snyder's "Rebel Moon," "John Wick: Chapter 4," "Black Adam," Disney's "The Little Mermaid," and the VES Award-winning "Love, Death and Robots Volume 3."

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a VFX or animation studio.
  • Proven mastery of Maya; experience with other animation tools is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of body mechanics, facial animation.
  • Ability to animate from reference and create convincing acting performances.
  • High attention to detail, autonomy, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
  • Positive and collaborative attitude, and strong communication skills.
  • Must be based in the province of Quebec.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid open work permit).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ShotGrid or other production tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of rigging fundamentals or custom tool development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality animations that capture natural and exaggerated movements, as required by the project.
  • Demonstrate technical proficiency in various animation styles (realistic, cartoon, etc.) according to creative direction.
  • Create compelling performances for creatures, characters, and objects, based on creative vision and project requirements.
  • Continuously strive to improve animation quality by refining performances, seeking feedback, and pushing creative boundaries.
  • Ensure animation is technically sound, adheres to guidelines, and functions efficiently within pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with technical and rigging teams to address challenges and improve the animation workflow.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, providing clear feedback and discussing creative and technical solutions for optimal results.
  • Keep managers and production teams informed of progress, potential bottlenecks, and adjustments.
  • Share knowledge, participate in department-wide learning sessions, and mentor junior animators.
  • Stay current with the latest animation techniques and technologies, and continuously develop skills.
