About The Position
Artists in Residence have a specialized talent and skill in one of the arts, such as dance, theater, music, literary or visual arts. Artists in Residence work with middle school or high school students, sharing their knowledge in an art form, build art-making skills, and encourage the creative process. Artists in Residence present art programs, understand and adapt to the learning needs of a diverse student population, and work collaboratively with others.
Requirements
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge, expertise, and passion for the visual or performing art through your professional artistic practice.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a school environment and with various school community constituents.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with students and teachers.
- Adapt to a wide range of teaching conditions.
- Have reliable and consistent means of communication and transportation.
- Must disclose a complete list of every school district, county office of education, charter school, state special school and diagnostic center operated by the department of education, and private school that the applicant has previously been an employee of, including full-time, part-time, or substitute roles, effective January 1, 2026.
