Artificial Intelligence Expert REB Member
About The Position
Hennick Humber Hospital is seeking a volunteer Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Machine Learning (ML) Expert to serve on the Research Ethics Board (REB). The REB's purpose is to review proposed scientific research studies to ensure the protection of human participants, considering scientific, ethical, regulatory, and legal aspects. This role offers an opportunity to stay informed about emerging medical research and contribute expertise to improve reviews for future AI/ML-related research projects. The position is a volunteer role with a two-year term, requiring approximately 4 hours per month for preparation and reviews, plus a two-hour monthly meeting, which may be virtual. Training and resources will be provided, and the board is transitioning to a new online submission system.
Requirements
- Expertise and/or extensive knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning that can be applied to research studies in a hospital-based setting.
- Adequate time and interest in volunteering.
- Able to attend virtual meetings once a month on Thursday evenings from 5-7pm.
