About The Position

The AI Engineer Intern will assist in designing and building enterprise AI solutions — including AI agents, AI-powered web applications, automated AI workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems — that help teams across Shure work smarter. The intern will work alongside our cloud and generative AI delivery teams, gaining hands-on experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production on a modern cloud stack. This internship will be Hybrid in Niles, IL.

Requirements

  • In-process of a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency in Python (experience with JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus)
  • Familiarity with LLMs, generative AI concepts, or prompt engineering
  • Understanding of REST APIs and integrating third-party services
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working in a collaborative, hybrid team environment
  • Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Shure will not sponsor applicants for this position for work visas.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to RAG, vector databases, or embeddings is a plus
  • Experience with a cloud platform (AWS or Azure) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing, building, and testing AI agents and agentic workflows using frameworks and services such as AWS Bedrock, Strands, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
  • Develop and prototype AI-powered web applications and internal productivity tools
  • Build and evaluate RAG pipelines, including data ingestion, embedding, retrieval, and quality evaluation
  • Integrate large language models (LLMs) with enterprise data sources, APIs, and business systems
  • Support prompt engineering, solution testing, and systematic evaluation of AI outputs
  • Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews and design discussions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
