About The Position

The AI Engineer Intern will assist in designing and building enterprise AI solutions — including AI agents, AI-powered web applications, automated AI workflows, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems — that help teams across Shure work smarter. The intern will work alongside our cloud and generative AI delivery teams, gaining hands-on experience taking AI solutions from prototype to production on a modern cloud stack. This internship will be Hybrid in Niles, IL.

Requirements

In-process of a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or a related discipline
Proficiency in Python (experience with JavaScript/TypeScript is a plus)
Familiarity with LLMs, generative AI concepts, or prompt engineering
Understanding of REST APIs and integrating third-party services
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working in a collaborative, hybrid team environment

Nice To Haves

Exposure to RAG, vector databases, or embeddings is a plus
Experience with a cloud platform (AWS or Azure) is a plus

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, building, and testing AI agents and agentic workflows using frameworks and services such as AWS Bedrock, Strands, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Develop and prototype AI-powered web applications and internal productivity tools
Build and evaluate RAG pipelines, including data ingestion, embedding, retrieval, and quality evaluation
Integrate large language models (LLMs) with enterprise data sources, APIs, and business systems
Support prompt engineering, solution testing, and systematic evaluation of AI outputs
Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews and design discussions
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
