About The Position

The Art Therapist will provide routine journey-level habilitation/rehabilitation therapy work through therapeutic art rehabilitation activities. Services include developing, facilitating, and documenting therapeutic art groups; adapting activities to cognitive, emotional, physical, and psychiatric functioning; promoting engagement, emotional regulation, stress reduction, self-expression, recovery, social skills, communication, problem solving, self-esteem, and coping skills; collaborating with treatment teams; completing clinical documentation; and developing therapeutic art programming.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in therapeutic rehabilitation required.
  • Certification as a Registered Art Therapist (ATR) or Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-Provisional)
  • Knowledge of therapeutic rehabilitation principles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software programs.
  • Ability to develop and implement therapy programs.
  • Ability to conduct patient assessments and evaluations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapeutic art services to individuals and groups in a clinical setting.
  • Conducts structured art therapy sessions designed to support emotional and behavioral health.
  • Utilizes creative interventions to promote self-expression, coping skills, and personal growth.
  • Facilitates therapeutic group activities tailored to patient treatment goals.
  • Assesses patient participation and progress during art therapy sessions.
  • Develops and implements individualized art therapy treatment interventions.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment team members to support patient care.
  • Participates in treatment planning meetings and case discussions.
  • Communicates patient progress and treatment recommendations to clinical staff.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation.
  • Completes clinical notes, treatment records, and required reports in accordance with facility policies.
  • Ensures all documentation meets applicable regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Assists in the development and enhancement of therapeutic art programming.
  • Adapts therapy activities to meet the diverse needs of the patient population.
  • Promotes a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment during all sessions.
  • Encourages patient engagement, creativity, and positive social interaction.
  • Monitors patient behavior and reports concerns to appropriate clinical personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Adheres to all facility policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Complies with applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations.
  • Maintains art therapy materials, supplies, and equipment in a safe and organized manner.
  • Supports patient rehabilitation, recovery, and wellness goals through therapeutic art interventions.
  • Demonstrates professional conduct and ethical standards in all patient interactions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in support of behavioral health and therapeutic programming.
