About The Position

Devereux is seeking a passionate Art Therapist to provide critical intervention to children and adolescents in its residential programs. These programs offer 24/7 structured, therapeutic living environments for youth with significant emotional, behavioral, developmental, or psychiatric needs. The role involves combining individual and group therapy, psychiatric services, educational support, life skills training, and comprehensive assessments. The residential setting utilizes multidisciplinary teams to deliver specialized clinical interventions, including applied behavior analysis, occupational/physical therapy, and dual diagnosis care, while preparing residents for successful transitions. Family involvement and coordinated treatment planning are integral to the care model.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in the field of counseling, social work, or psychology.
  • Two years' experience working directly with children and families.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Ability to complete a 2-week hire orientation class (Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm).
  • Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Ability to perform physical intervention techniques requiring lifting and/or managing resistance upwards of 75-100 lbs. or more.
  • Some repetitive wrist/hand movements, normal hearing and vision.
  • Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings (Drug Screen, Physical, and TB Test).
  • Successfully pass a Level 2 background screening with the State of Florida.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with children who are victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, or youth who have been adjudicated delinquent and are committed and are emotionally disturbed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide critical intervention to children and adolescents.
