Art & Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Tutor
About The Position
At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Los Angeles, CA! If you're committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special needs and helping them achieve academic success, we want to hear from you! As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Los Angeles, CA.
Requirements
- Experience teaching visual arts to elementary-aged students
- Strong background in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and social skills development
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other neurodiverse learners
- Skilled at using art as a tool to promote emotional expression, self-awareness, and self-regulation
- Patient, creative, and encouraging with a relationship-centered approach
- Able to facilitate activities that build confidence, empathy, emotional regulation, and positive peer interactions
- Comfortable designing engaging, hands-on art projects that align with SEL objectives
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills with students and families
- Flexible and able to adapt instruction based on the student's emotional and developmental needs
Nice To Haves
- Experience incorporating creative arts into therapeutic or educational settings is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one art instruction that fosters creativity while supporting social-emotional growth
- Design engaging art projects that encourage emotional expression, self-awareness, and confidence
- Integrate SEL concepts such as emotional regulation, empathy, perspective-taking, and friendship skills into art activities
- Help the student develop healthy coping strategies for managing frustration and navigating social situations
- Create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where the student feels comfortable expressing herself
- Incorporate the student's interests in art, crafts, music, and other creative activities to maximize engagement
- Use collaborative art activities, storytelling, and guided discussions to reinforce communication and interpersonal skills
- Encourage problem-solving, flexibility, and resilience through creative learning experiences
- Monitor progress toward social-emotional goals and adapt activities to meet the student's evolving needs
- Communicate regularly with the family regarding progress, successes, and recommended strategies to reinforce skills outside of sessions
