About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and organized Art Room Supervisor to lead our design and production support team in a fast-paced sign manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing artwork preparation, file management, and production workflow for digital printing, lamination, and flatbed cutting processes. The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of large-format printing, attention to detail, and proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or print environment.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience in sign manufacturing, large-format printing, or similar production environment
  • 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Proficiency in 3M and Avery Flexi Traffic Edition
  • Proficiency in Print Factory
  • Strong knowledge of digital printers, laminators, and flatbed cutting equipment
  • Experience creating cut paths and preparing files for routing/contour cutting
  • Understanding of color management and prepress workflows
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RIP software (Onyx, Caldera, or similar)
  • Familiarity with CNC routers or flatbed cutters (Zünd, Kongsberg, or similar)
  • Knowledge of vinyl cutting, mounting, and installation processes
  • Familiarity with production scheduling systems or ERP software

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the art department, ensuring efficient workflow and timely job completion
  • Schedule and batch jobs from interfacing with other departments based on order workflow.
  • Manage and support a team of graphic designers and production artists
  • Prepare and review print-ready files for large-format digital printers, laminators, and flatbed cutters
  • Ensure artwork meets production specifications, including sizing, color accuracy, bleed, and cut paths
  • Create and verify cut files for flatbed cutting systems (routing, contour cutting, etc.)
  • Collaborate with production, sales, and installation teams to meet project timelines
  • Maintain file organization, naming conventions, and version control systems
  • Troubleshoot artwork and prepress issues to minimize production delays
  • Implement quality control standards for all printed and cut materials
  • Train team members on equipment, software, and company processes
  • Monitor workload distribution and adjust priorities as needed
