About The Position

Associated Students Inc., CSUF provides student development opportunities through leadership, volunteer, and employment experiences. In addition, the Associated Students provides campus community members with important social, cultural, and recreational opportunities, as well as, a wide range of programs and services. Under moderate supervision, The Art Programs and Exhibits Assistant will plan and lead Drop-In Art Workshops and other programming events, offering students a hands-on opportunity to explore and develop their artistic interests in a welcoming environment. They will also assist in scheduling a variety of art exhibits within the Titan Student Union’s gallery spaces.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing
  • Must complete: Bloodborne Pathogens, Campus Health and Safety Requirements, CSU’S Discrimination Harassment Prevention Program, Data Security and FERPA, Gender Equity and Title IX, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Handle artwork, which may include receiving, unpacking, and packing artwork; hanging and placement of artwork; handling artwork on loan or in permanent collection
  • Assist with installation and de-installation of exhibitions
  • Plan and lead Drop-In Art Workshops, offering a diverse range of creative classes
  • Work with ASI Marketing and Design to develop marketing materials for workshops, art shows, and special events
  • Teach appropriate class content according to class descriptions provided
  • Provide appropriate lesson plans for each workshop session
  • Develop list of equipment and supply needs; Maintain an organized storage area
  • Collaborate with ASI and campus partners to enhance events by providing engaging art activities
  • Promote events and programs in tabling outreach opportunities
  • Modify instruction for participants with different skill levels
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Promote positive image of ASI by providing customer service within the TSU
  • Maintain accurate records of class attendance
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures; attend safety meetings as scheduled
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
  • Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
  • Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
