About The Position

The Art Instructor is responsible for leading a safe, engaging, and supportive after-school classroom environment for high school students through visual arts instruction, facilitation, and program coordination. This role focuses on working with 9th–12th grade students, fostering creativity, self-expression, and skill development through a variety of visual art mediums such as drawing, painting, and mixed media. As a part-time instructor, you will design and deliver age-appropriate visual arts activities, build positive relationships with teens, and create an inclusive space that encourages participation, artistic exploration, and confidence in creative expression. This position offers valuable professional development and personal growth opportunities through hands-on experience working with youth in an after-school setting. The Art Instructor reports to the Creative Tech Lead and collaborates with site staff to ensure a high-quality program experience.

Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents
Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
Strong communication skills
Flexible in navigating a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

One year of experience working with high school aged youth
Spanish fluency is a plus

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a classroom of approximately 10–20 high school students in a safe, engaging, and structured after-school environment
Plan, adapt, and deliver visual arts enrichment lessons that support creativity, skill-building, and self-expression
Facilitate life skills and team-building activities that promote collaboration, confidence, and positive youth development
Engage in weekly check-ins and participate in staff meetings
Maintain a positive, safe, productive work environment
Participate in supporting special events and field trips
Attend training and professional development opportunities
Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
