About The Position

The Art Instructor plans, organizes, and leads a variety of visual and performing arts activities under the direction of the supervising Recreation Coordinator. The position assists with youth and community visual, culinary, and performing arts instruction, creation, and production. The instructor promotes creativity, collaboration, and positive participation while ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

Requirements

• One year of experience teaching or assisting in art, theater, or recreation.
• Knowledge of art materials, techniques, and safety practices.
• Familiarity with visual, culinary, or performing arts elements needed to conduct classes and events.
• Ability to manage a wide variety of ages and skill levels.
• Strong communication, organizational, and personal skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and flexible hours as needed for classes or events.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Coursework or a degree in Art, Theater, Education, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct arts-related classes, workshops, and activities for youth and adults.
• Prepare and maintain instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
• Encourage creative expression and skill development in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants during classes and events.
• Collaborate with recreation staff, volunteers, and community partners to promote arts programming.
• Maintain attendance records and assist with program evaluations.
• Help with program setup, cleanup, and organization of art spaces or event areas.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
