As Art Director for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen, you'll help shape how millions of readers experience stories across print, digital, social, video, and live experiences—creating compelling visual identities that inspire, engage, and push creative boundaries.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in consumer editorial design, including experience across both digital and print platforms.
• Demonstrated expertise in editorial design, typography, branding, and visual storytelling with a refined creative sensibility.
• Proven experience developing brand identity systems, logos, templates, and cohesive visual languages across multiple platforms.
• Strong conceptual thinking skills with the ability to translate editorial ideas into compelling creative executions.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, high-quality work.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build strong partnerships across editorial, creative, and production teams.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Bridge.
• Strong knowledge of magazine design, photography, illustration, color management, and production workflows.
• Ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment while managing multiple projects with creativity and precision.
• Experience identifying opportunities to improve creative processes and streamline workflows.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Creative Director to develop and evolve the visual identity, creative vision, and design standards for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen across print, digital, social, video, and experiential platforms.
• Design compelling editorial layouts, feature packages, celebrity profiles, and special projects that elevate storytelling through sophisticated typography, imagery, and visual direction.
• Create impactful graphics, logos, branding assets, and creative collateral for websites, social media, video series, live events, and other cross-platform initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with editors, writers, photographers, video producers, social teams, and special projects partners to concept and execute innovative creative solutions.
• Help define, document, and improve creative workflows and design processes that ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality execution across teams.
• Commission and art direct freelance illustrators and creative contributors while maintaining brand standards and editorial excellence.
• Oversee image selection, color approval, and photo retouching direction in partnership with digital imaging specialists to ensure exceptional visual quality.
• Consistently deliver thoughtful, high-impact creative work while balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced editorial environment.
