About The Position

Scale Media is seeking an Art Director to lead brand creative across its portfolio of science-backed wellness brands. The primary focus will be on enhancing websites and visual identity systems to build brand trust and differentiation through visual storytelling. This is a hands-on role responsible for creative direction of owned channels, including brand websites, email, and packaging. The Art Director will collaborate with Digital Product, Retention, Growth, and Brand teams to ensure consistency and quality across customer-facing experiences. A key aspect of the role involves modernizing creative workflows using AI-enabled systems and tooling. The ideal candidate has strong creative instincts, high standards, and a desire to be deeply involved in creative execution, rather than solely managing people.

Requirements

  • Deep DTC creative leadership experience, having led brand and website creative at a DTC consumer brand.
  • Understanding of modern ecommerce design, customer psychology, and the interplay between brand and performance.
  • Strong taste and design judgment, with the ability to articulate why creative works.
  • Hands-on creative leadership style, with a desire to be involved in reviews, direction, and decision-making.
  • Experience building or rebuilding creative organization workflows, including prioritization, review processes, design systems, and production workflows.
  • AI fluency at the architecture level, capable of designing AI-enabled workflows and adapting to evolving tooling.
  • Analytical mindset, focused on business outcomes and customer behavior.
  • Proven ability in cross-functional collaboration with Growth, Ecommerce, Brand, and Retention teams.
  • 7–10+ years of relevant experience in Creative Director roles within DTC consumer brands, brand design leadership at high-growth ecommerce companies, or agency creative leadership with deep ecommerce and digital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead brand visual identity systems, including foundational visual language, brand standards, and design systems.
  • Provide creative direction for owned surfaces, including visual design and storytelling for brand websites, lifecycle emails, and packaging.
  • Develop and improve creative production systems, including scoping, prioritization, review, and shipping of design and production work.
  • Architect AI-enabled creative workflows to enhance production speed, iteration quality, and operational leverage.
  • Lead and level up a junior creative organization through stronger standards, clearer direction, and improved accountability.
