The New York Times is looking for a creative and collaborative Art Director to join their award-winning Opinion Design team. This role involves partnering closely with Opinion Print Editors to reimagine daily pages and establish a distinct visual identity separate from the newsroom. The Art Director will demonstrate talent in organizing complex information and creating engaging designs, combining sophisticated typography, photography, data visualization, and commissioned artwork, or creating real-time illustration when needed, to push the boundaries of print layouts. The position requires a passion for print, an interest in presenting and adapting digital-first content innovatively, advanced editorial design experience, strong project management skills to handle daily deadline pressure, a deep passion for journalism, and a portfolio showcasing versatile, high-impact narrative storytelling.
