About The Position

The Art Director - Innovation will join OUTFRONT XLabs, the award-winning, cross-disciplinary, creative innovation group focused on the intersection of human-centered design and outdoor media. In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Creative Technology and Innovation teams to craft high-impact Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) campaigns and immersive brand experiences, high-fidelity client storyboards, comps, and user journeys. You bring a maker’s mindset and thrive in a world where big ideas come to life in unexpected formats from a city block to a transit screen to an interactive installation.

Requirements

  • Art direction and campaign execution
  • Graphic & motion design sensibility
  • Ability to design with formats and intent in mind
  • Storyboarding & visual storytelling
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma
  • Microsoft core suite (PowerPoint for client-facing and internal presentations, Outlook and Teams for day-to-day comms, Word/Excel as needed).
  • Passion for culture, design trends, and non-traditional media
  • Familiarity with AI tools and how to use those to aid in, but not replace, your human-centric design sensibility
  • Functional competency with core tools (Dropbox, Monday.com, OUTFRONT Intranet tools)
  • 3-4 years of experience in an agency, in-house, or studio environment with a focus on advertising campaigns, including experiential and traditional work
  • A strong, diverse portfolio showcasing exceptional software ability, art direction, branding, and concept development across multiple mediums
  • Candidates will be expected to speak to their individual roles across projects within portfolios
  • Experience designing for large-format digital screens, motion assets, or site-specific activations
  • Ability to think across scales, crafting for both the big picture and the fine details
  • Solid understanding of production processes to keep work within not only strategy but budget/scope parameters as well
  • Proven ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with creatives, strategists, producers, and technologists
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability/desire to be client-facing is a plus
  • You are entrepreneurial and a self-starter
  • Comfortable having a voice and POV in internal and external client meetings
  • You can manage up in a collaborative and positive manner
  • Ability to clearly express creative ideas to various types of stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • After Effects or 3D design experience is a major plus

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing original campaign concepts across digital out-of-home, experiential, and hybrid media formats
  • Lead the visual development of creative campaigns, from concept sketches to final design execution and production files
  • Create compelling, presentation-ready decks in Microsoft PowerPoint that communicate ideas with clarity and edge
  • Work closely with motion designers and technologists to bring ideas to life on digital and traditional canvases throughout the United States
  • Execute against creative strategy, brand guidelines, and media context to create highly engaging visuals tailored to each unique location or platform
  • Stay plugged into trends across design, advertising, culture, and emerging technology, bringing thought leadership and a maker mindset to each project
