About The Position

The Art Director, Global DTC & E-comm will play a key role in continuing to shape the visual language of Sol de Janeiro’s digital footprint, bringing exceptional craft, taste, and visual storytelling instinct to every deliverable. Reporting to the Senior Art Director, Global DTC & E-comm, this role supports the concepting, art direction, and execution of digital content across DTC and e-commerce, ensuring every asset radiates Sol’s brand codes and delivers with creative excellence. This is a digitally native role grounded in modern content creation. You’ll generate imagery and motion from the ground up, translating briefs into scalable, high-performing creative across site, CRM, and paid, while serving as a steward for how branded content evolves across tools, platforms, and formats. You may occasionally direct content in our in-house studio, but the core of the role is building and scaling content through evolving, technology-enabled workflows including AI.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of experience in art direction and 2D design within an in-house or agency setting, ideally in beauty, fashion, or lifestyle.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, art direction, and 360 campaign execution across digital and social platforms.
  • Digitally-First Creative Expertise: Proven body of work showcasing digital-first activations across paid, CRM, and site touchpoints; must be a native digital creative who intuitively understands platform behavior and content performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise generating content using AI tools (imagery and motion), with a strong point of view on how to apply them within a branded system and scale output effectively.
  • Expertise in visual storytelling across still and motion content, with a strong eye for composition, color, and detail.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and emerging AI creative tools.
  • Deep understanding of brand systems and the ability to translate global direction into scalable digital outputs.
  • Confident collaborator who communicates clearly and manages feedback with professionalism and ease.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume creative environment.
  • Detail-oriented, solutions-driven, and committed to upholding creative excellence in every output.
  • Must be based in New York City or surrounding areas.
  • Position is required to be in-office 3 Days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Senior Art Director, Global DTC & E-comm to translate global creative direction into high-quality executions across DTC and e-commerce.
  • Concept and art direct digital content across campaigns and launches—leveraging both AI-generated and shoot-based approaches as needed.
  • Develop visual narratives, moodboards, and content systems that bring campaign strategy and brand codes to life.
  • Occasionally lead art direction for in-house studio shoots, ensuring composition, lighting, styling, and framing align with brand standards.
  • Generate imagery and motion content using AI tools—owning prompt development, output refinement, and final polish to meet brand standards.
  • Direct image selection, editing, and retouching with precision and consistency.
  • Execute go-to-market assets for digital needs across the brand, developing internal guidelines and digital directions that translate into comprehensive 360 assets for use across site, CRM, and paid media for both sdj.com and retailer.com.
  • Oversee content strategies and execution aligned to new DTC eco-system and uphold creative standards with rigor, challenging norms and aligning work to best practices for creative excellence cross-channel.
  • Oversee P-Page Design executions across DTC + Retailer.com, collaborating closely with Global Creative Campaign leads to ensure content is aligned to the broader asset pipeline while maintaining e-commerce best practices.
  • Lead the exploration and implementation of AI-enabled tools to accelerate concepting, product visualization, asset iteration, and content production across digital channels.
  • Balance multiple fast-paced workstreams, delivering high-quality output across both traditional and AI-driven pipelines; ensuring all outputs align with brand standards, ethical practices, and the brand’s body-positive values.
  • Contribute to evolving workflows that integrate AI content generation into the broader creative process while maintaining brand ethos and integrity.
  • Partner with producers, designers, and external partners to uphold creative intent across all phases of shoot production, where relevant.
  • Partner with Cross-functional teams to ensure creative aligns with business objectives and seasonal priorities.
  • Present work and direction clearly to internal stakeholders, communicating rationale and creative choices with confidence.
