About The Position

We are in search of a part-time Middle School Art Aide. The aide will work in the classroom Monday through Friday, 9:30am - 3:30pm (hours subject to change). This is a school year only position. The Middle School Art Aide supports the teacher and students in our dynamic middle school art program. Our art classes include, but are not limited to working with; clay, glazes, paints, stretching water-color papers. An interest in student learning, art, art mediums, and aesthetics as well as being self-motivated and hard working is necessary for this job.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of work areas, organizing materials, and cleaning.
• Preparing materials for student work in a wide variety of mediums Includes working with the following materials: clay, glazes, paints, stretching water-color papers, and cutting papers to size.
• Preparing art for presentation Mat and mount finished art with attention to detail for presentation (all mats are generally pre-cut).
• Install exhibits Involves sighting and leveling on wall for flat work, covering tables and laying out sculpture.
• There are three to four major exhibits a year, which can require some extra hours.
• There are several changing bulletin boards on campus where work needs to be switched, and this is done as time allows.

• Pay for this position is determined according to The Harker School's established pay scale and is based on relevant education and experience, as evaluated by the Human Resources Department.
