About The Position

The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Arson Investigator to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Fire Marshal Office. The Arson Investigator earns a competitive hourly salary of $49.94-$54.57/hour, based on qualifications. Requirements

  • High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in fire science or closely related field.
  • TCOLE Peace Officer Certification
  • TCFP Fire Inspector Certification
  • TCFP Fire Investigator Certification
  • ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
  • Texas Class "C" Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience is preferred pertaining to fire inspections, fire investigation, or closely related experience.
  • Plans Examiner I

Responsibilities

  • Performs fire inspections of new and existing facilities and/or structures to ensure compliance with various laws and City Ordinances.
  • Meets with contractors and examines building plans as needed to discuss projects under construction.
  • Performs plan reviews of facilities and/or structures being proposed in the City to ensure they meet the requirements as adopted by the City.
  • Performs fire investigations.
  • Performs investigations related to professional standards.
  • Enforces environmental crimes.
  • Manages evidence in the event of criminal acts.
  • Performs data entry, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Ensures evidence is secure related to investigations
  • Enforces federal, state, and local laws and codes.
  • Performs fire prevention education.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
