About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking an outpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) Resident to provide psychiatric services to clients in their outpatient Behavioral Health sites and medical clinics. Clients in the Behavioral Health Program will have access to counseling and case management alongside psychiatric services. Those seen at medical clinics will be for evaluation and medication follow-up, with the Psych NP resident not providing counseling. The role involves working as part of a care team, collaborating with staff for coordinated care, and actively participating in the APP Residency program training. The Psych NP Resident will consult with clinical staff and medical providers, manage and prescribe medications within their scope of practice, and potentially provide care for special patient groups. Residency requirements must be fulfilled as detailed in the curriculum.

Requirements

Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Active Washington state Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) and Registered Nurse (RN) licenses.
Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program (PMHNP).
National Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Notation of approval on license to prescribe legend drugs.
A current DEA certificate is required if applicant is requesting privileges to prescribe controlled substances.
Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of and interest in Latino/Hispanic culture is needed.
Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Providing psychiatric services to clients in Sea Mar’s outpatient Behavioral Health sites and in Sea Mar’s medical clinics.
Evaluating and providing medication follow-up for clients seen at medical clinics.
Working collaboratively with staff to provide team-based coordinated care.
Actively participating in the APP Residency program training.
Consulting with Behavioral Health clinical staff and Sea Mar medical clinic providers to review cases and provide recommendations about diagnosis, medications, and other treatment considerations.
Providing psychiatric care services to patients of Sea Mar Community Health Centers in accordance with training, experience, certification, insurance and licensure.
Referring patients to medical specialists or other sources of service when necessary.
Prescribing, managing, and/or dispensing required medication to patients according to the individual prescriptive authority granted by the Washington State Board.
Participating in clinical affairs, working with administrative personnel, the APP Residency Director, Medical/Clinical Director and the Chief Medical Officer to improve the patient care experience.
Providing care for special groups of patients such as those in nursing homes or other institutions when appropriate.
Fulfilling all residency requirements as detailed in the curriculum and as required by the APP Residency Director.
